The kick-off meeting for the operation of strategic importance Danube Integrated System for Marking (DISMAR) took place!

The kick-off meeting of the Danube Integrated System for MARking (DISMAR) project, funded by Interreg VI-A Romania-Bulgaria Programme took place on 18 June 2024, in Ruse, Bulgaria.

The event, organized by the Executive Agency "Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River, as project Partner, marked the beginning of the implementation activities of the DISMAR project!

The project partners presented the main objectives of the project, discussed the state of preparation and future activities.

"This is the first joint project that is implemented only between us and our colleagues from AFDJ under the Cross-Border Cooperation program. After its implementation, we will have a single integrated marking system that will provide us with real-time information on the state of the floating and coastal signs in the common Bulgarian-Romanian section of the Danube river," said the Executive director of EAEMDR, Dipl.eng. Ivelin Zanev

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Interreg VI-A Romania-Bulgaria Programme, the Bulgarian Ministry of Transport and Communications, representatives  of the municipality of Ruse, Info Point - Ruse, the lead partner of the project - the Lower Danube River Administration, Galati, as well as the regional governor of Ruse - Dragomir Draganov. He emphasized the importance of the project, which will contribute to the improvement of navigation.

DISMAR is an operation of strategic importance, submitted under the Priority 1 - A well connected region, Specific Objective 3.2. Developing and enhancing sustainable, climate resilient, intelligent and intermodal national, regional and local mobility, including improved access to TEN-T and cross-border mobility. With a total budget of nearly 10 million euros, out of which approximately 8 million euros count as European co-financing and a duration of 36 months, the project aims to contribute to the increased safety and efficiency of navigation on the common Romanian-Bulgarian sector of the Danube River.
