Within the framework of the DISMAR project, the project partners have committed to planting at least three trees during the implementation period, in accordance with the requirements of the Interreg VI-A Romania–Bulgaria funding programme.

The first step has already been taken! On June 17, 2024, AFDJ RA Galați planted a silver lime tree (Tilia hybrida "Argentea") in the courtyard of the Giurgiu Navigable Section. As it had been grown in a pot, the tree could be planted at any time of the year without risks to its development.

Planted in a sunny location and carefully tended to, the DISMAR lime tree bloomed as early as June 2025, producing white flowers grouped in fragrant clusters – a clear sign that it has adapted perfectly to its new home.

Across the Danube, the team of the Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River planted three plane trees in the green area of “Otets Paisii” Square in Ruse, Bulgaria. The location was chosen with the support of the municipality, in close proximity to the Agency’s administrative building, allowing for constant and careful maintenance of the trees.

In the coming period, the remaining two trees planned under the project will also be planted, thus continuing the DISMAR project’s green mission. 🌱

Through these initiatives, the DISMAR project reaffirms its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development, promoting concrete actions with a long-term impact in both Romania and Bulgaria.
