Today, April 10, 2024, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration, in the presence of Mr. Adrian Ioan VEȘTEA, Minister of Development, Public Works and Administration, the financing contract for the Danube Integrated System for MARking (DISMAR) project, funded by Interreg VI-A Romania-Bulgaria Programme, was signed.

With a total budget of nearly 10 million euros, of which approximately 8 million euros are European co-financing and a duration of 36 months, the project partners, the Lower Danube River Administration (Galați, Romania), acting as Lead Partner, and the Executive Agency for the Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River (Ruse, Bulgaria), acting as Partner, aim to contribute to the increased safety and efficiency of navigation on the common Romanian-Bulgarian sector of the Danube River.

The project will develop an innovative and integrated marking system along the 470 km stretch of the common Romanian-Bulgarian river sector, which will provide the infrastructure necessary for implementing a safe, sustainable, intelligent, and climate-resilient mode of transport.

This project is the first strategic project selected by the Monitoring Committee of the Interreg VI-A Romania-Bulgaria Programme, which will directly contribute to improving mobility at the national, regional, and local levels, as well as at the European Union level, along the Rhine-Danube TEN-T Corridor.

His Excellency, Mr. Radko Vlaykov, Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to Romania, attended the signing ceremony for the DISMAR project financing contract.
