General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (GIES), as Lead Partner, took part in the event “Interreg 35 Years – Interreg in Romania” organized by the National Authority for Interreg Programmes within the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration. The event took place between 12th –13th November 2025 at the Palace of Parliament.
To celebrate 35 years of European Territorial Cooperation Programmes (Interreg) and 18 years of their presence in our country, the event focused on promoting the results of implemented projects, encouraging interaction among Romanian project beneficiaries and strengthening the Interreg community in Romania.
The activity benefited from the presence of the Minister of Development, Public Works and Administration, Mr. Attila CSEKE and brought together over 250 representatives of partners and public institutions from Romania and Europe, management structures cooperating with Romania under the Interreg Programmes, as well as members of the Interreg community.
All participants shared the valuable experience they have gained over the years as programme beneficiaries, contributing to a broader picture of European cooperation and cohesion for the Interreg community in Romania.
During the dedicated panel, specialists from GIES presented the strategically important STREAM 2 project, currently being implemented at the institutional level. They also showcased concrete examples of measures taken to increase the safety and protection of the population in border areas during emergency situations, made possible through equipment and infrastructure acquired under the Romania–Bulgaria Interreg Programmes.
