Green Infrastructure Initiatives and Forest Restoration for Climate Adaptation in Zimnicеа and Svishtov areas ( GREEN - ROBG00356 )
What is the purpose?
Specific Objective: 2.4 - Promoting climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention, resilience, taking into account ecosystem-based approaches
The overall objective of the project is to strengthen natural flood protection mechanisms through ecologization and afforestation, reducing the negative impact of floods, improving soil stability, and enhancing the adaptive capacity of the region to climate change. By implementing nature-based solutions, the project will increase water retention, limit erosion, and restore green infrastructure, creating a sustainable ecological barrier to protect urban, peri-urban, and rural communities. The expected change is a significant reduction in flood risks, improved soil quality, and a healthier environment, benefiting local populations, municipal administrations, and regional ecosystems.

Status
The project is in implementation.
- Project management set up: both partners appointed their Project Management Teams (LP – on 20.01.2026; PP2 – on 08.01.2026) and signed contracts with team members. A kick-off online coordination meeting was held on 15.01.2026 to align both teams on objectives, methodology, afforestation planning and tree species selection.
- Information & publicity procured: PP2 tendered and awarded the "Production of information and publicity materials" contract (procedure announced 27.01.2026, contractor selected 20.02.2026) and signed Contract on 10.03.2026 with the selected supplier. LP prepared its own tender documentation for visibility and awareness materials (eco pens, notebooks, bags, folders, USB sticks, flyers, brochures, backpacks) and published project news on its official website and social media.
- Ecologization & afforestation tenders launched: LP announced its public procurement for ecologization and afforestation works in Zimnicea (CN109812, published 23.06.2026); PP2 announced its procurement for "Cleaning, soil preparation and afforestation" in Svishtov municipality (announced 24.02.2026, offers opened 02.04.2026).
- Maintenance equipment procured by PP2: a contractor was selected for the supply of a dump truck (Decision No. D54356202 of 14.04.2026, Order CAIS EOP 00753-2026-0010); the tender for a tractor and attached equipment was announced on 18.03.2026 (Order CAIS EOP 00753-2026-0015).
