Kick-off meeting - Danube Integrated System for MARking (DISMAR)

 The kick-off meeting of the Danube Integrated System for MARking (DISMAR) project, funded by Interreg VI-A Romania-Bulgaria Programme took place on 18 June 2024, in Ruse, Bulgaria.

DISMAR is an operation of strategic importance, submitted under the Priority 1 - A well connected region, Specific Objective 3.2. Developing and enhancing sustainable, climate resilient, intelligent and intermodal national, regional and local mobility, including improved access to TEN-T and cross-border mobility. With a total budget of nearly 10 million euros, out of which approximately 8 million euros count as European co-financing and a duration of 36 months, the project aims to contribute to the increased safety and efficiency of navigation on the common Romanian-Bulgarian sector of the Danube River.

The DISMAR project aims to install an improved marking system along 470 km of the Danube waterways. Among other activities, the project will deliver an integrated marking plan and communication plan, the testing and evaluation plan for the Integrated Marking System Quality as well as the procurement of the marking vessels, of the floating signalization, of the coastal signalization, and of the IT Platform.

The kick-off meeting marks the start of the implementation activities of the project.  Ms. Angela IVAN, General Manager of the Lower Danube River Administration (GalaČ›i, Romania), acting like Lead Partner and Mr. Ivelin ZANEV, Executive Director of the Executive Agency for the Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River (Ruse, Bulgaria), acting as Partner, received the support message of the local administration, represented of Mr. Dragomir Draganov, Regional Governor of Ruse.

The project partners presented the main goals of the project and also discussed the preparation status and the future activities.
