Raționalizarea Cooperării Transfrontaliere: abordare comună în ceea ce privește rezistența la dezastre – STREAM 2 - ROBG00005
In the heart of the Romanian-Bulgarian cross-border region, the operation of strategic importance STREAM 2 stands as a vital step toward enhancing safety and disaster resilience. With a budget of approximately €24 million (out of which approx. €19 million represent funds from the European Regional Development Fund), financed by Interreg VI-A Romania-Bulgaria Programme, this strategic project brings together six partners committed to strengthening emergency response and cooperation between the two countries.
At its core, STREAM 2 is about preparedness and protection. By developing operational intervention centers in Giurgiu, Constanța and Veliko Tarnovo, equipping teams with modern emergency vehicles and specialized intervention equipment and introducing a mobile pontoon for water rescues, the project ensures that local authorities can respond swiftly and effectively to crises. Additionally, a breathing device charging station in Bulgaria will support the training and development of emergency specialists, further enhancing the region’s disaster response capabilities.
Through this collaborative effort, Romania and Bulgaria are not only investing in infrastructure and resources but also building a foundation for stronger institutional cooperation and a safer, more resilient future for our cross-border communities.
